The Future Is Female | Women's Day Playlist

“I'm tough, I'm ambitious, and I know exactly what I want.
If that makes me a bitch, okay.”

- Madonna

International Women’s Day is here! Today, Wednesday March 8, the world will again recognize the importance of gender equality + supporting all women, all around the world- and this year’s theme is #BeBoldForChange

We should always be conscience in celebrating every kind of woman, but this day is an opportunity to stand strong with men and women across the globe with one united mission: promote equality worldwide.

If you’re looking for ways to get involved in #IWD2017, I challenge you to research local events and organizations in your area that are taking part in such a vital movement.  This year is an important year for women’s rights - so let’s not take the recognition lightly.

I’ve been fascinated with the idea of ‘girl power’, ever since the mid-90’s, when I was a little wide-eyed child, in love with the Spice Girls. There is still a Baby Spice hiding out in my soul, and when I listen to any song on my girl power anthem playlist, she comes out to play.

In honour of this special day, here's a list of my favourite songs that packed full of girl-power, all made by incredible females:

First Aid Kit - Hard Believer

Sky Ferreira - You're Not The One

The Beaches - Give It Up

Kacey Musgraves - Pageant Material

Madonna - Express Yourself

Hannah Georgas - Evelyn

Beyonce - I Was Here

LIGHTS - Banner

Shania Twain - Any Man Of Mine

Katy Perry - Lost

Bif Naked - I Love Myself Today

Jennifer Lopez - Love Dont Cost A Thing

Gwen Stefani - Cool

Dixie Chicks - Wide Open Spaces

St. Vincent - Digital Wittness

Spice Girls - Viva Forever

Tori Kelly - City Dove

Christina Aguilera - Still Dirrty

Joydrop - Sometimes Wanna Die

Mya - Case Of The Ex

Lady Gaga Ft. Florence Welch - Hey Girl

Marina & The Diamonds - Happy

Jewel - You Were Meant For Me

TLC - Unpretty

Best Coast - In My Eyes

Remember, fighting for women’s rights does not mean less rights for men. This day is about equality - we should love + celebrate each other by being strong together.
